LIFE SYSTEMS - DIVERSITY OF LIVING THINGS

INTRODUCTION

Tearing/ chewing, sucking, sponging, lapping, piercing/ sucking. Humans like to classify, number and organize things. The identifications listed above give classification to a group of insects by way of “sucking methodology”. Students will experiment with a variety of classification systems that will allow them to observe and describe similarities and differences among species more precisely. They’ll be able to put anything in its class!

STUDENT DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

Classify: Students will acquire first hand experience in studying the diversity of living things on site at The Collingwood Scenic Caves. They will be given a package of charts and graphs that will aid them in examining and classifying living things found within the area and be encouraged to determine their own “original” method of classification.

Your curriculum package includes lesson plans, work sheets and information necessary to cover each unit. Please Click here to download the package.
